The PSO sponsored Concordia International School’s 2nd International Festival in the Middle School Gym. The Concordia Community has families representing over 34 countries. This year, 19 countries provided samples of regional foods, educational information and activities related to their cultures.

The girls left for school all red, white and blue.

Some activities at the Festival include playing street games in Southeast Asia, shooting a hockey puck in Canada, crafting with beads in Africa, tasting local food in China and having Bindi or Mehndi (henna tattoos) applied in India. Korea supplyed each ES student with a bag upon entry to collect goodies at the Festival. All students received a “Boarding Pass” with space to collect stickers from each country.

Eleri’s 2nd grade class enjoyed the fun from 10:30-11:00. I was working the American/Canada booth from 1:00-3:00. Emersyn’s 6th grade class was the last class to enjoy the fun at 2:30-3:00. Some of the “goodies” were gone by the end of the day, but they still had fun. Both girls came home with something for each other. Eleri found a book marker for Emersyn. Emersyn was thrilled as the book markers were gone by the time she was at the Festival. Emersyn found a bag key for Eleri. However, Emersyn sat her stuff down and lost it. I was very impressed they thought of each other.

My job at the booth was the hockey puck retrieving. Emersyn gave “it a go” while I was at the booth.
