Emersyn returned from APAC Forensics to One-Act play performances on Thursday & Friday of February 5 & 6. Emersyn is taking an advance theatre class. In the class, each student wrote an one-act play. They were randomly assigned another students play to direct and cast. Emersyn was given the play written by James Larson. James was directing Emersyn’s play.

Emersyn’s title of her play was “Addiction”.

Emersyn idea for her play resulted from being the only teenager with no phone. At lunch, her friends would all be on their phones searching and on social networks. Since she went from April – December with no phone, she had a good look at the “addiction” of her peers to their devices.

James’ play title was “Under Pressure”.

It was different watching the play noting the content and writing aspects instead of just watching the performance. Emersyn’s play and the play she directed were my two favorite plays. Many of the plays had “heavy” themes while these two plays were “lighter”.

Another great experience for Emersyn to express herself through writing and acting.
