When the students go to APAC competition, they stay with a homestay from the school hosting. Concordia was hosting APAC band this year. Emersyn’s Japan homestay, Esther, from the Canadian Academy was coming to Shanghai for APAC band. We requested to have Esther and a friend stay with us. Esther, Emersyn and Nicholle have stayed in touch since APAC Tennis in Japan.

The girls arrived on Wednesday night. Esther Jung is a junior from Korea and Natsuki Maduda is a sophomore from Japan studying at the Canadian Academy. Nicholle and Emersyn took the girls to the Kerry for dinner and shopping at H&M.

I cleaned the toy room to make space for the girls. Esther and Natsuki moved into the toy room – one on the twin bed and one on a blow up mattress. Nicholle moved into Emersyn’s room on the blow up mattress for a house full of girls! Nicholle wanted to be part of the fun with Esther while she was in Shanghai. Nicholle is a junior at Concordia. She took Emersyn under her wing during tennis season and is a very sweet girl.

The APAC girls have a busy schedule with band. Thursday was the only night to take them to dinner. Jim was at school teaching dive classes so we had a girls’ night out. We took the ferry across to the Bund for dinner at Lost Heaven.

Lost Heaven is one of my favorite places. We had table in the corner to enjoy all of the tasty food.

After dinner, we walked to the Bund to get a few photos. It was a cold night, but the view is always worth it.

On Friday, the APAC girls had practice all day at school and the entire APAC team went to the ERA show in Puxi. Emersyn & Nicholle picked up Esther and Natsuki after the show at 9pm to go to Whisk for desserts. The girls have a curfew of 10pm. They arrived home just after 10pm, but they did not get their curfew call this night…maybe due to the lateness of everyone getting back to Jinqiao from Puxi.

On Saturday, the APAC girls had practice all day and the concert. Nicholle and Emersyn attend the concert to support the girls. They didn’t arrive home until after 10pm, after their curfew call! The girls stayed up until 3am talking and having fun. The girls were out the door at 5:30am for their flights. Nicolle and Emersyn rode with them to school. When Emersyn and Nicholle arrived back at our house, they did homework and took a morning nap.

It was fun having the APAC girls and Nicholle.
