The annual Concordia Auction Gala is a fund raiser for the Yunnan Water Project. When we first arrived in Shanghai, we went to the Concordia Gala. We had not been in about five years to the Gala. Rachael went last year and said we were GOING this year.
Rachael and I went to get our dresses made at the fabric market. The fabric market can be a hit or a miss. We walked around the three floors looking at samples. My dress was on display as a sample as a cocktail dress with a short skirt. I lengthen the skirt to the floor to make it more of a ball gown. My dress cost 680rmb ($110). We went to the market early as the fabric market is closed for two weeks during Chinese New Year. When, we picked up our dresses, they packaged them like all market clothes – into a plastic bag! No fancy bag for the fancy dress!
The Gala was schedule for March 21 at the Kerry Center, but it was moved to March 7 as the ballroom was taken over by the Government. March 7 was a busy day. Emersyn had National History Day (NHD) from 8:00am – 2:30pm, play practice from 3:00pm-5:00pm and the Ed Sheeran concert at 8pm.
Emersyn was at school all day so her driving needs were easy. Eleri had tennis at 3:00pm with Lili and I had an appointment to get my hair done at 2:30pm – all in Jinqiao which made it easier for Mr. Nie to get everyone where they need to be. We picked Emersyn up early from play practice to head home to prepare for a busy night. Emersyn did my makeup for the Gala as she is the expert makeup person in our house.
All dressed up for an evening out with friends for Charity!
The Gala is from 5:00pm-1:00am. We arrived around 6:00pm to begin the night.
At our table were Rachael & Mike Jacobs, Lisa & Mark Gandy, Donna & Darel Calis and Jackie & Jason Adams. We did not get enough photos of the night.
We stayed until after midnight, but didn’t make it until 1am. It was a fun night shared with friends. It is fun to see all the Moms dressed up.
