Stefan, our German friend from Hong Kong that lives in Switzerland, was in town for business. We had four days of California fun with Stefan and Karin this summer. See German Greetings in California.
Stefan arrived Tuesday morning for meetings. I picked Stefan up at his hotel which was very close to our home. We did a quick power shop at the fabric market and the underground. Stefan had just enough time to squeeze in a massage before his first meeting. Whew, we did everything in less than 4 hours!
Stefan came with gifts from Switzerland – cheese, wine and biscuits. We were more than thrilled to have the Swiss cheese. We had the opportunity to taste Swiss cheese this summer when Karin and Stefan brought gifts to California. It is a favorite of the entire family. I went to City Shop to buy good (expensive – $11 a box) crackers to enjoy our cheese.
Stefan and I ran to the fabric market during his lunch break on Thursday. We were able to enjoy a quick lunch and smoothie before his next meeting. After finishing work, Stefan came to the house to see the girls before our dinner reservation on the Bund. The last time he saw the girls, they were one and five years old.
We met Jim on the roof top bar of “Lost Heaven”. We enjoyed a drink before moving downstairs to our table. Stefan had bad Chinese buffet the night before with a work function. Everything tasted good and he was loving all the spices of Yunnan food.
After dinner, we walked along the Bund and took the ferry home. Stefan had an early flight back to Switzerland in the morning.
