Roxi arrived after a long travel schedule. Jim and Roxi flew from San Jose to LA. From LA, they flew to Guangzhou. Guangzhou has no quarantine while Shanghai has a 7-day quarantine. Mr. Nie picked up Jim and Roxi to begin the journey to Shanghai. Mr. Nie drove 21 hours straight through with potty breaks for Roxi. After about 40+ hours of travel, Roxi arrived at her new home in Shanghai.

The girls and I arrived the following night. Roxi was happy to see the girls.

Roxi was doing much better with the potty training in California. With the beautiful weather, the back door was left open. Roxi loved hanging out in the grass. Here in Shanghai it is hot and humid! She has peed on EVERY rug I own, therefore, they are now all rolled up. It is much easier to clean up the pee on the wood floors. The frustrating part of a puppy – the potty training. I take her down in the hot/humid weather for 20 minutes. She doesn’t pee. The minute we get back upstairs, she pees – the joys of a puppy.

To date, only Eleri has stepped in the poop. Only Eleri has stepped in the pee to slip and fall in it. It is an Eleri thing. We all have stepped in the pee as it does blend with the dark wood floors.

Roxi loves the gardens of Yanlord. She has made friends with other dogs and is excited to run with them. She likes Pong Pong and Shou Shou best. Her favorite area is the grass near the sand traps. Not sure why we have sand traps, but Roxi loves to run through them.

Roxi sleeps with the girls. Emersyn was taking her to the balcony to do her business. Susan was training the puppies to use a “potty park”. A potty park is artifical turf in a tray to catch the pee. We put turf down on the balcony over the drain. She doesn’t seem to like it and pees elsewhere. We call the balcony our “lazy park”! No one wants to go down the lift at 3am! There is water and drains to rinse it all off – part of living in an apartment. Since school started, I have taken over night duties. Roxi generally wakes me up at 12:00am, 3:00am and 5:00am. I take her to the lazy park and she does her business. I am grateful it is warm and hot while we work on potty training. In the winter, it is cold and the wind howls on the deck. It is interesting on the deck at 3am. The City is surprisingly quiet and I can only hear the noise of the construction of the next tallest building in China. Some nights it is the sounds of nail guns or the glow of blow torches or the hum of large equipment. The construction is 24/7.

Roxi is adjusting to life in a apartment. Some funny things she has adjusted to:

It took her a few days to realize there are elevators on both sides of the hall. She was always coming out of the elevator to turn right. She has now learned where the apartment is located and walks the correct direction out of the elevator on either side.

The first time she hit the glass doors she was running ahead of Eleri. After she bounced off it, she realized she needed to wait until they open. I still don’t think she understands how they open, but she knows she can’t open them. I am sure when she is taller she will set off the sensor.

Emersyn and I were taking Roxi outside for her final walk/pee around 9pm in our pajamas. This is Shanghai, the land of pajamas. My understanding is the people wearing pamjamas in the street is a Shanghai thing, not other cities. We are taking full advantage of the local custom! Jim is back in town and we have passed the final walk off to him.

Roxi in her favorite pot…too cute!

Roxi playing.

Sean calls Roxi a sheep. She is puppy ball of fur that is just adorable. However, in the heat of Shanghai, the “sheep” needs a trim. Roxi after her first wash and fluff…and she was fluffed. She looks different, but still adorable. After a wash, she was back to our mop head Roxi!
