Since Eleri’s birthday is in August and she has no friends in America, we pick a weekend for her party to share with her friends prior to the end of school. Elle wanted a butterfly and garden party. She invited 8 girls from her class. At first, she only wanted 4 girls, but kept adding a girl!
Jim and I decorated the house for her party the night before. Elle woke up to see all the fun decorations waiting for her party.
Friday was a busy day with Field Day for Emersyn. By the time I started to bake the family chocolate cake, it was 8:30pm. As I began to measure and mix the indgredeints, I realized the last time Jim did the grocery run to City Shop, he got whole wheat flour – not the best for a chocolate cake. Jim hopped on his scooter to run over to city Shop before they closed. At 9pm, I began making the cake!
On Saturday, Elle helped me to make the frosting and decorate. It is all about pouring the sprinkles on the cake. While Jim was at City Shop last night, he picked up some can white frosting as Elle wanted to put a butterfly in the middle. Jim used some concentrated food coloring, not knowing it was concentrated. He put a blue and pink butterfly in the middle of the cake. When we tasted the pink frosting it was horrible from too much food coloring. Jim had to salvage the cake by scrapping the pink & blue butterfly off and put a new one on with just white frosting. The can frosting was ruining my HOMEMADE yummy frosting…but, it was what Elle wanted!
Everyone helped to make fairy bread and get the party food ready.
Our almost birthday Girl ready to have fun with her friends. Since it was a garden and butterfly theme, I got this masks to be butterfly masks.
Emersyn is now reading the Percy Jackson series. It has Greek Mythology in the stories. Emersyn’s butterfly is the purple one with all the eyes to represent a butterfly from the book.
We finished the party in the garden with a pinata and a search for butterflies.
Emersyn hid butterflies for the girls to find in the garden.
