When you wear a school uniform every day, the free dress days are very important. I have realized my girl only choose their clothes one day a week. During soccer season, they get up and put on their soccer uniform which leaves only Saturday. The fact that they only have one day a week to choose clothes for themselves is reflected in how long it takes to find something to wear and more times that not, it is all wrong – wrong weather, wrong color scheme or wrong outfit for what we are doing. I gave up on Elle a long time ago and she just wears plaids, stripes and poka-dots together because it makes her happy.

Here is a re-cap of the free dress days this last school year for both girls. Eleri’s British school has fewer dress day that Emersyn’s “American” school. Eleri also has a much more formal uniform policy – there is a formal outfit, a winter outfit, a summer outfit and a PE kit. Emersyn on the other hand is pretty relaxed – where the Concordia shirt with some navy blue bottoms – long pants, shorts, or skirt; it does not matter.

April 22 – Earth Day. April 22 was free green dress day at Dulwitch for Earth Day. Elle had fun finding everything green – green dress, green socks, green headband, green necklace & a green hand bag. She went skipping to school with the biggest smile on her face.

Emersyn’s American school has more fun with free dress by having it more frequently.

May 28 – Pajama Day always a fun one. Emersyn missed the school-wide PJ day due to her field trip to Tongli. The grades 3/4 were given their own day to wear pajamas to school. These pj’s are extra special to Emmy. She made them last summer with Aunt Nancy – she is very proud of them!
