Eleri had her first band concert as a middle school beginner band member – the Christmas Concert. The Christmas concert was performed by the Middle School Band – 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade.
Eleri has chosen to play the oboe, the hardest instrument to learn to play. She is working hard, but still has a few notes that squeak. She did tell me she didn’t play the notes she knows she struggles to get a good sound…smart playing!
Merrily Roll We Roll Along
Lightly Row – Duet
One step At a Time
Good King Wenceslas
Song of the Fjords
Jolly Old St. Nicholas – Duet
Jingle Bells
The 5-8 Grade Beginning Band performed first.
The clarinets and oboe playing their solo piece for the song, “Lightly Row – Duet”. Eleri is the only beginner oboe player.
Eleri was concentrating hard as she played. Next time, I will sit on the other side so I can see her face. The theatre was full this night with many parents standing to watch the performance.
At the end of the concert, I was able to get a good photo of Eleri as she waited for her turn to exit the stage.
Another fun evening watching Eleri’s first concert. Jim was out of town and Emersyn was at home studying for finals. Eleri and I had a nice pre-concert dinner at Simply Thai, one of Eleri’s favorite places.
