The annual Daddy Daughter Dance for Girl Scouts this year is a Tropical Paradise theme. Eleri is finally old enough to be in Girl Scouts. She is a Daisy. Girl Scouts is organized through Concordia. The school is very supportive of the program for Girl/Boy Scouts. The meetings are held after school in the classrooms. Since Eleri is not a Concordia student, she is able to be a part of the program because I am a leader for the 4th grade troop. This is my second year to lead Emersyn’s troop. We have twelve girls in our troop. Nine of the girls were in our troop last year. Elle’s Kindergartner Daisy troops meets once a month. All the other girl scouts meet twice a month. Eleri is our “mascot” on off Daisy meetings. Elle was the “mascot” all of last year in our troop. She really enjoys hanging with the older girls.
I took Eleri, Emersyn and Sophie Jenkins to get their hair washed and curled at the local salon behind our complex. For 80rmb/$11, the girls got their hair beautified along with their nails.

We had so much fun going to the fabric market to make dresses last year, we had to go again this year. The theme was a little harder to work with to get the same Daddy/Daughter costume as last year’s Masquarade Ball costumes. The girls each picked out their own fabric and sundress style. Since Emersyn’s dress was less flowers, Jim had a shirt made to match her dress. To keep with the costume of both girls, Jim had a scarf made to match Eleri’s dress.

The dance was held at the Radisson Hotel in Pudong, the same place as last year. The cost is 250rmb/$36 per person. Dinner and dance from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

I was a bit worried that Eleri might be a little lost at the dance. She doesn’t attend Concordia School, so she doesn’t know the Daisy girls in her troop very well. She only interacts with the girls in her troop at the monthly meeting. Jim said she was fine. She hung with all the older kids. Kids he didn’t know…that would be the girls from my 4th grade troop.
