Permalink Jim had a company meeting in Taipei, therefore, the Company organized for all the families to come to Taipei – a family boondoggle. The only problem was our girls were still in school. Chinese New Year break began Wednesday at noon. The Chinese students have three or more weeks off for Chinese New Year. […]
Permalink We have never been in Shanghai on New Year’s Eve. Friends, Rachael and Mike, invited us to a party they were attending.
Jim went to work while the Lyon ladies slept in since we are all tired from the night flight from Male. When I woke up, Roxi was looking guilty, but […]
Permalink Our last night in the Maldives, Emersyn developed a terrible ear ache. We were able to get her drugs before we departed on Sunday at the resort and again in KL. Jim made an appointment for her at Parkway Health in Puxi for 4:30pm. With our delayed flights, we all went to the doctors […]
Permalink This year we are spending Christmas in the Maldives. Getting there from China was easy and cheap. Our plane tickets were $800 per ticket – a ticket to San Francisco costs us double to triple this amount. The hard part was finding a “reasonably price” resort that accommodates children. The Maldives consists of many […]
Permalink On Saturday, Eleri was at Ellie’s house all afternoon. I wrapped Christmas presents and pulled out all our Christmas decorations. They are “stuffed” in various closets throughout the house. When Eleri arrived home, she was ready to decorate. We pulled out our VERY, tiny tree to fluff.
I usually put Christmas […]
Permalink We arrived back from beautiful Yangshuo to the pollution of Shanghai. The AQI (Air Quality Index) reading was over 300. Shanghai has never been this high in the AQI readings. Beijing had many bad pollution days last winter, but Shanghai stayed under 300.
On Friday, we woke up to 400 AQI. A fog […]
Permalink We started this tradition of a Thanksgiving Adventure Trip to Yangshuo. This is our 5th Thanksgiving in Yangshuo. We didn’t go last year and everyone missed the adventure. Five families are sharing the Thanksgiving adventure. It is the usual gang of past Thanksgivings to include the Jenkins (Jennifer, Scott, Sean & Sophie) and the […]
Permalink Halloween – the MAIN event. Concordia has conferences on Thursday and Friday for ES and MS students. Conferences equals no school. I scheduled our conferences for Thursday after lunch. Therefore, no school on Friday after the fun!
Since Wednesday was a no school night, we had dinner and a movie. After the movie, […]
Permalink Halloween seemed to creep in too fast this year. After the International fair, Eleri and I went to Pines to see what our luck would be for pumpkins. We had NO luck so we purchased two very small, but orange pumpkins. The larger pumpkins were light orange and too flat for carving. We did […]
Permalink October break is National Holiday or Golden Week in China. School just began, but we have a week off for Golden Week. We have spent many Golden Weeks in Shanghai – the weather is generally nice at this time…but, this year we are spending the week in Thailand.
Thursday, September 26 – From […]
