Concordia had a half-day of school today. Mary and I thought it would be a great day to take the girls (Emersyn and Eleri with Kelly and Erin) to the new Barbie Store. It is the global flagship store in Puxi…the only one of it’s kind. It is six floors of Barbie all in Pink. Even the outside of the building is pink!

We started with lunch at the Barbie Café. The food was “mama huhu†or so-so, but it was about the ambiance and not the food. Since it was a Wednesday afternoon, we had the place to our self. The girls finished lunch off with a BFF sundae. A double scoop sundae to share with your “best friend foreverâ€.

After lunch, we started down the stairs to check out all the Barbies. The stair walls are a display case of Barbie all in pink. On one floor, we found every special Barbie ever created on display behind glass. It is just fun.

There are also Barbies that can only be purchased here. There is Shanghai Barbie, Barbie dolls from the years, famous people Barbie…you name it, they had it. The Barbie doll from the 80’s was Malibu Barbie. It brought back memories of my childhood, as she looked exactly like my Barbie I played with. There is a design center to create your own Barbie doll…maybe our next adventure at the Barbie store.

On another floor, there is a fashion “runway” used for birthday parties. Erin attended the first Barbie birthday party about two weeks ago. Mary had said it was over the top nice with an over the top price tag. At the party, the girls got dressed in Barbie clothes to walk the runway with music. Our girls just walked the runway…for free.

There is a floor for the Barbie spa. I liked the 100% plastic beauty. We just walked through, but we loved all the fun “beauty†faces on the wall.

Mary gave Eleri an early, special birthday present. She got to pick out any Barbie doll she wanted. She did not want the Shanghai Barbie…Emmy and I did. She picked out a Barbie doll with a bed. She got a big pink bag to carry her present home. She carried the bag, which was almost as big as she, all over the store. She was the only girl that got something on this day.
