We had chicken curry for dinner tonight with wild brown rice. Brown rice packed back to China in our boxes from the States. I had to laugh at the idea that we actually bring rice back to China, the land of rice. You can get any kind of WHITE rice. I really didn’t know there was such a variety of white rice. There is a whole aisle (or is it isle) just for rice…white rice. Of course, the smallest is a 5-kilo bag. Most people buy the 20-kilo bag.

While we are talking about rice, I will need to add oil to the list. Oil is sold in the 5-liter jug. Like rice, there is a whole aisle for these extra large oil jugs. Most Chinese will buy more than one of these large jugs of oil on their shopping trip. I don’t think we could use one of these oil jugs in a year!! This makes you think twice about the next time you eat Chinese food.
