The Community Center Shanghai’s annual Giving Tree project was established to help the migrant school children. The Concordia Girl Scouts became involved with the Giving Tree program five years ago. Each scout brings home a bag to fill with a winter coat, shoes, socks, hat, gloves, school supplies and a toy. About 450 gift bags were collected from Concordia for children at Tang-Si Migrant School.
It is an excellent opportunity for the girls to help. It helps them to see the world as it is with many children not having the basic needs of life. This is the only Christmas gift these children will get. I feel it is important for our children to appreciate all that is given to them.
The Girl Scouts organizes a field trip to distribute the bags to the children.
