Jennifer Jenkins called at the last minute to invite Elle and I to the SEA (Shanghia Expat Association) Christmas party. Her son, Sean, was sick and unable to attend this year. I had join the SEA one year, but since I didn’t do any of the activities, I have not continued the membership. Her daughter, Sophie (7) plays very well with Elle. Going to the Christmas party worked out perfectly as Emmy had a birthday party all afternoon.
They had kits for gingerbread house making. Let’s just say, it wasn’t Aunt Nancy’s special gingerbread house making fun. The gingerbread pieces were too heavy to hold together with the small amount of lumpy coarse frosting each child was given. And there was no extra candy for me to eat – especially Hot Tamales!!

Elle had a blast making all the craft items at the party. She was not ready to go home at the end. On the way home in the taxi, Elle told Sophie she got an itouch for Christmas. Sophie just said, “Moooooooom!â€. Jennifer answered, “Different familyâ€. We laughed because we knew Sophie was getting her itouch before they left for their adventure holiday, also. It was Sophie’s Dad, Scott, that did all the shopping in Hong Kong. Last note of the day…I carefully held the gingerbread house all the way home in the taxi. When I got out of the taxi, the house went crashing to the ground!
