The girls were asking if they could open a present before we left on our Christmas trip to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. They would be opening presents when we returned on December 31. Santa presents would be delivered and waiting for them upon our returned. I would say, “we’ll see”. The “we’ll see” is based on what they were getting from us for Christmas.

Before we left on our trip to Yangshuo for Thanksgiving, I had no idea what to get our girls for Christmas. On the flight to Yangshuo, Emmy was watching Emma’s ipod with her. Emmy has an old ipod with no video. When we travel, we drag the portable dvd player for the plane rides. The portable dvd player is not that portable. With our adventure Christmas trip, maybe an upgraded ipod for Emmy and an ipod for Elle (she doesn’t have one) was the Christmas gift from us. Jim did a little internet research on his iphone and realized that the itouch was only $50 more for more video time, bigger screen and games. Scott Jenkins was going to Hong Kong on Monday, so we talked to him about going shopping. Hong Kong is the place to buy your apple needs. After some discussions with them, Scott and Jennifer thought the itouch was a good gift for their children, also.

Saturday was the only day to open presents, as Jim was traveling before we leave on Wednesday. The girls were given four gifts to open…all which could be used on the trip. The gifts they opened were a wind-up flashlight, a compass, brain cards and the itouch. It was a video moment when they opened the itouch. Emmy was so excited and thrilled. She said thank you, thank you, and thank you! Elle was unsure of what it was. But, she tried to be as thrilled as her sister.

Christmas

It is one of those gifts the girls would not have been given if we were living in the States. They really wouldn’t have a need for an itouch at this age. However, it fits our lifestyle of being on the road. Jim loaded 10 hours of video on each itouch. That gives them 20 hours to share along with some games. We are keeping Emmy’s music on her ipod to keep the space for movies.
