Concordia hosted an annual conference of Model United Nations (MUN) from Thursday, Jan 17 through Saturday, Jan 19. This was the fourth conference at Concordia with over 300 visiting students from 25 schools. Emersyn was not participating in this conference, but helping as an administrative person.

Model UN is an academic activity in which students simulate the work of the real United Nations in order to learn about current affairs. Students serve as ambassadors of assigned countries in specific UN committees, and work together in a formal setting to craft strategies for solving some of the social and political issues confronting the international community. Model UN conferences are hosted by schools around the world and the program is a wonderful vehicle for helping students to become active global citizens.

Emersyn had said the 4-day conference was a lot of work, but she learned watching the students. She will debate in Beijing in February after Chinese New Year. Emersyn will represent the UK debating human organ trafficking.
