Almost two and so much fun!!

Eleri tries to do everything (and I do mean everything) Emmy does. It is really cute. She loves to wear a tutu. The first thing in the morning, Eleri will say, “mama, tutu”. This is said very clear. Most of the time we have no idea what she is saying. She does have a few clear words – no, sissy, tutu, daddy, mommy, mama, two.

Emersyn came home with Big Ted, again. When I asked Emmy how she earned Big Ted, she replied, “the other teacher gave it to me for being so good”. This is the third time she has been given Big Ted from a supply teacher. She must be a star student when Ms Nicholson is gone. I asked Emmy about the difference between Big Ted and Special Ted. She replied, “Big Ted is better than Special Ted because you earn Big Ted. Special Ted is just for doing something well that day”.

Of course, Eleri wanted to hold Big Ted.

Goodbye Hong Kong! As a farewell to Hong Kong, we had a pleasurable evening on the tramsways through “downtown” Hong Kong.  With a group of 20 friends, we enjoyed wine and hors-d’Å“uvres while admiring the bright lights from Central to Causeway Bay.

The evening continued in Lan Kwai Fong where we joined the revelers watching World Cup Soccer.  We stepped out of the mayhem for dessert and a night cap prior to heading home at 2am.

We just received the keys to our new flat in Shanghai.  It is on the Pudong (east) side of the river on the 29th floor.  We are excited about the new place.  No more walking up stairs to get home.  We will have much more room than Hong Kong.  We have a guest room, so pack your bags for a visit.

Night view

We have a wonderful view of the Jin Mao Tower (the tall one in the foreground on the right), the Oriental Pearl Tower (the needle with the two balls top and bottom) and across to the Bund (in the background where the laser lights are coming from).

The night this picture was taken most of Shanghai was shut down for all the visting Heads of State (an all Asia economic meeting).  We had a great fireworks, but the Chinese over did it a little – soooo much smoke that you could not see the buildings or the fireworks.

Dragon Boat races are a big event in Discovery Bay. Every year, we go down to the plaza for all the fun and watch a few races. This year, I was racing on the ARK all womens team. I have never dragon boat, but it was fun. We practiced on Sunday evenings for about a month as most of the team was new to dragon boating.

Getting set to start…

Paddling hard…

Brenda – first paddler

To the finish line…

The women’s ARK team came in first which was a surprise for a bunch of Moms – most new to dragon boating!

The girls had fun playing in the sand during the day long festival of Dragon Boat.

We skipped school today to go to Disneyland with our friends – Tara, Greg & Grace and Vanessa, Angus & Jemima and Leah & Csende. The weather had predicted a down pour rain. We had a fabulous day with cloud cover which is very important at this time of year in HK. It “spit” on us a couple times during the day, but we never got out the raincoats we all dragged to Disneyland.

Lunch time and chop sticks…

Every trip to Disneyland must included an ice cream Mickey head. However, in the Hong Kong heat, you can’t eat it fast enough!

We didn’t stay for fireworks, but we had a full, fun day with our friends.

Getting ready for the Magical birthday party a couple of girls were all smiles.

We met the birthday crew in the plaza to take the bus to Sunny Bay. The kids may only be 6 years old, but they are old pros at public transportation. Every child has their own octopus card with a holder to wear around their necks (least likely to lose it place). We made wrist bands for each child to wear with Jim’s mobile number. We were traveling from Discovery Bay to Sunny Bay on the bus. At Sunny Bay, we need to transfer to the Disney Train to Disneyland. Once we reached Disneyland, we would walk to the Disney Hotel.

The walk from the train station to the hotel was in two’s…harder to get lost when you are attached to another child!

The rain began to get bigger, therefore, the kids pulled out their rain coats. This is Hong Kong – the tropics!

When we arrived at the hotel, the rain began to stop. The children were ready to run in the maze.

They created the game of “maze tag”.

This little one will be hard to find in the maze. She is below the hedge level.

The rain was blowing back in so it was time to head inside the hotel to the buffet dining area.

This is Eleri first year to decorate gingerbread houses with Aunt Nancy. Nancy has a crew of children over with Eleri & Emersyn along with the Allari children.

Emersyn jumps right into the decorating. She has enjoyed this tradition for the past three years with Aunt Nancy.

Eleri needs a little help from Dad as she is probably wondering why we are sticking candy on a house and not eating it!!

The houses are decorated and ready for display.
